Hi, I am interested in constructing a two chambered MFC with locally available material.

Can anyone help me regarding some suppliers in India for carbon paper and carbon cloth for electrode material?

I have been unable to get any so far. all websites point to suppliers in US or elsewhere. Anyone in India or is US the only hope? Thanks a lot for the help!!

the idea of substituting carbon cloth with carbon electrode is ill advised as it is not very effectively working

Would carbon electrodes work as an alternative to using carbon cloth? Every resource that I could find regarding the construction of a homemade MFC tells me to use carbon cloth as the electrodes. I was wondering if you could use any other cloth as a replacement for it in the electrode, or is there some sort of special property of these carbon cloth that makes them the only material that could create the electrodes?

H'ng Wei Cheng ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and his supervisor Dr Nik Azmi b. Nik Mahmood from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia use carpenter pencil instead of the more expensive Toray paper or cabon cloths in their MFC. Maybe you could also try carbon coating (e.g. electrodeposition) a porous cheap packing material for your anodic chamber?
