Hi,

I am a PhD student from Greece, and i want to build an MFC.Can you please help me to find flexible carbon cloth with Pt catalyst and with wet proofing? Almost all papers refer to E-Tek  as their supplier ,but this company no longer produces carbon cloth.

Thanks,

Mina

Try Colleen Spiegel from Clean Fuel Cell Energy (USA, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ; http://www.cleanfuelcellenergy.com). They are fast and customer-oriented.
You can also try to make your own carbon cloth based on Liu, H., Cheng, S. and Logan, B.E. (2005b) Env. Sci. Tech., Vol. 39(14), pp. 5488-5493 procedure. They apply a mix of 5 % Nafion solution (Sigma, part#274704-100 mL Nafion perfluorinated ion-exchange resion, 5% soln in low aliphatic alcohols/H20mix, contains 15-20% water; or Colleen Spiegel) and 20 % Pt (E-TEK) onto plain carbon cloth or Toray paper.
You may also be interested in the type of wire to be used. Instead of Pt wires, you can use titanium as that is also corrosion resistant but cheaper (Wire - part # AA00362-G5, 0.5 mm diamter, 5 meters length, $264.60 USD; Manufacturer - Alfa Aesar). However, the electrical conductivity is as follows: Ti
